Chris Otness

My passion for clean energy began while working on college campuses across the U.S. on President Obama's 2008 campaign. One of the issues that seemed to be most prevalent amongst our generation was the desire to combat the damaging effects of global warming. After researching the topic on my own, it became my goal to work in the field of clean energy.

My current area of interest is in the technological and financial innovations around distributed solar and energy storage technologies. I am specifically interested in how these new technologies will shape the future role of utilities and power producers.

As consumers, businesses and industrial manufacturers have started to produce their own power and incorporate new energy efficiency and smart meter technologies, the entire energy landscape has begun to shift. It is difficult to foresee exactly how the various stakeholders, including IPPs, utilities, regulatory bodies, and consumers will interact in the future but this is an exciting time for the field of energy.

My prior career afforded me the opportunity to work in political campaigns, in government and in clean energy industry.  I hope to be able to leverage these experiences, along with my MBA, to work with various energy industry stakeholders to help further drive the clean energy industry forward.
