Summary
Threemile Canyon Farms is one of the nation’s largest dairy operations, producing more than 1 million pounds of milk every day. Recognized as a leader in sustainable farming, Threemile Canyon Farms is working towards a closed loop system. The new digester arrives on the heels of a smaller digester demonstration project, built in 2009.
The success of their first digester project inspired Threemile Canyon to do something bigger. The new project will integrate gas produced by the previously constructed digester as well as that produced from the waste of more than 40,000 cows on the farm, using it all to generate an additional 37,000 MWh of clean power annually.
Construction on Threemile’s new biodigester began in January 2012 and was completed in September 2012.
