Johnson students selected for OneEnergy Scholars program

January 27, 2015
OneEnergy, a developer of large-scale clean energy projects, this year selected two Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management students to participate in the OneEnergy Scholars program. Brian Liberatore and Mei wa Poon (both MBA 2016 and SGE immersion students) are among six scholars from MBA programs across the country invited to participate in the program.

The OneEnergy Scholars program is designed to accelerate the careers of high potential individuals that have demonstrated passion and commitment in the renewable energy field. The initiative is a partnership between OneEnergy and Net Impact, an international nonprofit that aims to help businesses address social and environmental issues across the globe.

The program provides mentorship, career guidance, research support, and broad recognition for recipients’ achievements. Applicants are chosen based on their experience, passion, and commitment in renewable energy.

Poon previously served as a board member for the United Nations Association of New York, where she was involved with the Sustainable Energy for All initiative. She also worked with cleantech startup One Earth Designs as a market development associate, helping scale operations in developing markets. Poon started her career at JPMorgan Chase, where she spent five years working across the investment banking and treasury businesses.

Liberatore began his career in newspaper journalism. He worked as an investigative reporter in New York, Florida, and London covering crime, politics, and business. He joined the Peace Corps in 2011 and moved to rural Peru where he helped deliver clean water and safe cooking technology to farmers in the upper Amazon basin of Peru. Liberatore enrolled in Johnson to transition his career into the clean energy sector.
